Russian missile and drone strikes killed a woman and wounded seven people in Ukraine, while a Spanish F-18 fighter jet shot down a drone that entered Romanian airspace, authorities said on Sunday.
The woman and six of the wounded were reported in Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. A separate attack on Kyiv wounded one person and started fires at non-residential sites.
What happened in Ukraine
The governor of the Kryvyi Rih region said the city was hit by a missile and drone attack. Six people were wounded alongside the woman who died.
Authorities in Kyiv said the capital was under ballistic missile attack late on Saturday. Fires broke out at non-residential sites in the Obolonsky and Holosiivskyi districts, they said.

Drone shot down over Romania
Romania’s Defence Ministry said a Spanish F-18 pilot taking part in a NATO air-policing mission had shot down a drone that illegally breached Romanian airspace. The ministry did not specify where the drone came from.
The incident was the fourth drone shot down in Romania this year. Romania shares a 634km border with Ukraine and has repeatedly reported Russian drones entering its airspace, although the ministry did not identify this drone’s origin.
A wider pattern of attacks
Russia has carried out near-daily missile and drone strikes across Ukraine since launching its full-scale invasion in early 2022, with attacks also reaching areas far from the front lines. Reports of mines and unmanned sea drones in the Black Sea have added risks to regional shipping lanes.

The United Nations Human Rights Monitoring Mission said civilian casualties in Ukraine reached their highest monthly level since 2022 in July, with at least 437 people killed and 2,610 injured.
Reported attacks inside Russia
Russian authorities separately reported a large-scale Ukrainian drone incursion on Sunday. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said more than 100 drones heading toward the capital had been downed, while three people were wounded and emergency crews responded at sites where debris fell.
Ukraine has increasingly targeted military, industrial and logistical facilities deep inside Russia, describing those strikes as a response to Russia’s continuing attacks on Ukrainian towns and infrastructure.
