A pregnant Palestinian woman died on Saturday from injuries sustained after she was shot in the head while sitting in her family’s tent in al-Mawasi, south of Khan Younis, according to relatives and medical workers. Iman Shalouf, 27, was nearly eight months pregnant; doctors at Nasser hospital initially detected her unborn baby’s heartbeat, but both died several hours later.
The Gaza health ministry said at least 10 Palestinians were killed and 56 wounded in Israeli attacks during the preceding 48 hours, amid artillery shelling and gunfire in northern, central and southern Gaza.
Other reported deaths and injuries
The health ministry said four members of one family were killed when their home in Beit Lahiya was struck on Thursday night. The victims were Momen Ahmed, his wife Haneen Saleh, and their daughters Lana, 12, and Bana, eight.
Six other Palestinians were reported killed in Khan Younis and Gaza City on Friday, including a man who died from injuries sustained in an earlier attack. On Sunday, the health ministry said two Palestinians were killed and several others injured when a vehicle was struck in Tel al-Hawa in Gaza City. Wider humanitarian strain
UNICEF said at least four children had been reported killed and many others wounded in the five days before 28 August. It later said three more children had reportedly been killed and at least five injured in the preceding 24 hours, bringing the reported child death toll between 23 August and 2 September to seven.
Médecins Sans Frontières said Israeli airstrikes continued to kill and wound Palestinians and that Israeli forces issued 18 evacuation orders between 6 and 9 September. The organisation said a building was struck less than 250 feet from one of its clinics.
The UN humanitarian office said most of Gaza’s 2.1 million people were approaching the rainy season in overcrowded displacement sites, with risks from flooding and disease. It said preparations were constrained by funding shortfalls and access restrictions. A temporary halt to desalination in Israel on 31 August reduced water available to about 1 million people in Gaza who rely on the Israeli grid, while Gaza’s health ministry said hospital generators had stopped working because of shortages of fuel and spare parts.
Casualties reported since the ceasefire
Gaza’s health ministry said 1,369 Palestinians had been killed and 4,627 wounded since the fragile ceasefire took effect on 11 October 2025. Since Israel’s war in Gaza began on 7 October 2023, the ministry has reported at least 73,783 Palestinian deaths and 174,738 injuries.
