Authorities have indicated the attack is being treated as an Islamic terror incident. Ballout, a German citizen of Lebanese descent, was killed after attacking officers with a bladed weapon.

Abdul Ballout, a German citizen with Lebanese roots, was killed as he attacked officers with a bladed weapon, police reported.

Ballout was shot following a search that lasted nearly 24 hours. He was the main suspect in the attack on Saturday evening, in which a van drove into a crowd at the Berlin Pride LGBT event.
